OCOEE, Fla. -- A man returning to his Ocoee home early Tuesday morning shot and killed a man during a gun battle, according to police.
The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Pomegranate Court in Orange County.
According to Ocoee police, Walter Henry, 40, returned home from work when he was pistol-whipped by one of two men in his driveway. Henry, who has a concealed weapons permit, fired three shots, and one of the men returned fire, police said.
David Butler was struck and killed, police said.
"When we found the bad guy, he had gloves on his hands. He also had a hood up over his head and he had pulled his shirt up over his face, sort of like a bandana," Ocoee police Sgt. Mike Bryant said.
Henry was struck by a bullet but is expected to be OK, police said.
"It looks as if he was attacked. He defended himself, and in this particular case, it looks like the good guy won," Bryant said.
The other culprit has not been located. A description of the man has not been released.
It does not appear that the Henry knew his attackers.
Henry's family was asleep during the gunfight, but a relative could be heard wailing while police conducted an investigation at the home.
Police said Butler had an extensive criminal history, including a current warrant for his arrest in another home invasion.
