Lake County sheriff's deputies continued searching Friday for a 57-year-old ax-wielding man who allegedly threatened to kill two women hikers on a Central Florida trail, according to Local 6 News.
Authorities said that the women were walking on the St. Francis Trail at the intersection of state Roads 42 and 44 Thursday when a man swinging an ax approached them and said "You are bad people, you deserve to die."
The victims were able to escape without injury and later picked Ron York (pictured, left) out of a police lineup as the man who attacked them, according to Local 6 News.
Friday, searchers found what is believed to be York's camp site hidden in the woods. Deputies confiscated several items from the site, including a machete, shovel and a bike. However, the ax was not located.
Deputies said York has most likely been living in the woods for about a year. They said that he knows the woods well.
Authorities have a perimeter and said that they will wait until York surfaces from the woods.
