FBI Warns Terrorists May Target Ferries

An internal FBI bulletin warns of renewed al-Qaida interest in attacking ferries.
But FBI spokesman Ray Lauer in Seattle says the bulletin contains no specific information about any ferries, including Washington's.
Lauer says al-Qaida has a history of water assaults on tankers and other ships, including the attack on the USS Cole in Yemen three years ago in which 17 American sailors died.
State ferry system spokeswoman Pat Patterson in Seattle says without a specific threat, it's taking the latest FBI bulletin almost as a reminder to remain vigilant.
