Woman Allegedly Stole Fruit Tray, Cigarettes

THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- A television news anchor for the Villages News Network was arrested for allegedly stealing a fruit tray and some cigarettes from a grocery store, according to a report.
Elizabeth Jean Talbot of Lady Lake was reportedly spotted by an employee at Albertsons supermarket taking a fruit tray from under her blazer and then placing it inside an Albertsons bag last Friday. The employee said Talbot then put the bag in her car and returned to the store, according to a report.
When Talbot went inside the store she then purchased a few items and picked up three boxes of Dunhill cigarettes and then allegedly put them in her purse without paying, according to a witness.
The employee reportedly stopped the woman at the front door of the store when she tried to leave and called the Sheriff's Office.
A second employee gave a similar account involving the cigarettes.
Talbot was booked into the Sumter County Jail and released the same day on $250 bond, jail officials said
The fruit tray was valued at $7 and the cigarettes at $16.
