Pit Bull, Doberman Attack Owner In Brevard

Officers Forced To Kill Dogs

POSTED: Thursday, January 15,
UPDATED: 5:20 pm EST January 15, 2004

A Palm Bay man is recovering Thursday after he was attacked by two of his own dogs, according to Local 6 News.

Larry Gartman said his pit bull and Doberman pinscher started fighting Thursday morning for no apparent reason. When Gartman tried to intervene, the dogs attacked him, biting Gartman on the arm and legs, according to a report.

When the dogs would not stop fighting, Gartman gave police permission to shoot the dogs. They were both shot and killed.

Gartman refused treatment for his injuries, a Brevard County Fire-Rescue spokesman said.
