A sudden freak snowstorm raged across Athens and the rest of Greece, catching residents by surprise and causing chaos, according to a Local 6 News report.
Temperatures took a sudden drop Thursday as a cold front brought heavy snowstorms that affected the entire country.
The abrupt snowfall forced authorities across the capital to close schools on Friday.
The weather caused traffic chaos, according to the report.
Some roads were closed by the heavy snowfall.
Some towns were snowed-in as temperatures plunged into the below zero.
Meteorologists expected the bad weather to continue for the next few days.
