3 arrested in DeLand waste station burglary

Men stole $18K in valuables from waste station cars, shed

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Volusia County Sheriff's Office has arrested three men who they say stole $18,000 worth of items from a waste transfer station in DeLand.

Deputies said the men broke into five work vehicles and a storage shed back in February at the station off of S.R. 44 and stole approximately $18,000 in valuables including computers, a 4X4 all-terrain vehicle, hand tools and fire arms.

Kevin Officer, 25, was arrested Thursday for the break-in with nine criminal charges including burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property. David Whitely, 23, turned himself in on Saturday and was charged with the same crimes. Both were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach. Bond for Officer was initially set at $75,000 and Whitley's bond was set at $7,500.

The third suspect, 25-year-old Corey Marnik, turned himself in at the Volusia County Sheriff's Office Tuesday afternoon
