3 seriously hurt in 2-vehicle Orlando crash, troopers say

Crash on Sandlake Road near Sunport Drive prompts lane closures

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three people were taken to the hospital late Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on Sandlake Road near Sunport Drive.

The crash happened at 4:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Sandlake Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said Victor Jimenez, 27, of Orlando, was traveling westbound in his 2004 Nissan 350Z when he crossed the median, striking the left side of a '96 Infinity driven by June Mercado, 44, of Orlando.

Edwin Baquetano, 25, was in the passenger seat of Jimenez's car at the time of the crash.

The three were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Baquetano and Mercado are reportedly in serious condition. Jimenez is said to be in critical condition.

The eastbound lanes of Sandlake Road were shut down as the cars involved in the crash were removed.
