A Central Florida teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after two girls in his ninth-grade honors science class downloaded the video of an American being beheaded in Iraq.
Local 6 News reported that two girls asked Bayside High School science teacher Patrick O'Bryan if they could look at an Internet site.
O'Bryan left the class momentarily and returned to find several students viewing the beheading of American contractor Nicholas Berg in Iraq earlier this month.
"There was a lot of noise coming from the computer, so a lot of kids went to look. I looked, and they were just holding up the head," student Taquisha Johnson, 16, told Local 6 News partner
Florida Today. The video shows Berg being pushed to the floor. Then, one of the terrorists puts a knife to his throat as Berg screams and then they cut off his head.
A parent complained to school officials about the incident and O'Bryan was suspended Thursday and Friday -- the last two days of school for teachers, according to
Florida Today. At least three California teachers were suspended last week after similar incidents in their classrooms.
