Water rescue crews managed to secure both homes Tuesday so they would stop floating down the river.

During an investigation, police found mail addressed to a man in Frankfort, Ky., inside one of the homes but it has not been determined whether the man owned the home.

Officials suspect recent storms may have swept the homes into the Kentucky River during flooding a few weeks ago and then they traveled to the Ohio River, Local 6 News reported.

It appears as if someone recently lived in the homes, according to a report.

Fire officials were trying to contact the owner or owners of the houses to determine what happened.
