A killer whale performance at SeaWorld San Antonio was abruptly ended when a whale attacked and repeatedly slammed a trainer underwater, according to a Local 6 News report.
The killer whale was performing in front of thousands of spectators when he apparently became agitated.
Witnesses said Ky the killer whale pulled trainer Steve Aibel under water and kept him there for several minutes, according to the report.
"I was videotaping and I told the kids to close their eyes, something was wrong and the whale was jumping and that's all he could do was take a bite out of the guy, " witness Justin Lecourias said.
Thousands of stunned park visitors witnessed the attack while other trainers stood helplessly by the side of the tank watching Ky's unusual behavior.
Ky eventually calmed down and Aibel exited the tank without serious injury.
SeaWorld canceled "The Shamu Adventure" for the day after the incident.
