The firestorm of controversy surrounding the "60 Minutes" report about President George W. Bush's National Guard service continues to grow Wednesday, according to Local 6 News.

Two experts used by CBS to examine documents have come forward saying they can't vouch for their validity.

Wednesday, CBS continued to stand by its story which focuses on a memo written by one of the president's superiors during his national guard duty.

The memo is signed by Lt. Col. Jerry Killian who died in 1984. It says that Bush did not show up for a required physical and he should be grounded as a pilot for not performing his duty.

Several news organizations are reporting that the document is fake because of various elements of the typeface, according to the report.

ABC news is reporting that two of the experts used by CBS have come forward saying they can't vouch for the authenticity of the memo and warned "60 Minutes" about problems with the document.

Anchor of the CBS Evening News and managing editor of the program, Dan Rather, has repeatedly said this week that his news organization believes the documents to be real.

Outside of Local 6 Wednesday, a security camera videotaped a lone protester calling for Dan Rather and CBS to "come clean" on what the sign reads are forged documents.

This station has also received e-mails protesting the validity of the story.

Wednesday, CBS will make another statement on this controversy. It's not known if the network is once again backing the "60 Minutes" report or is changing its position.

Local 6 News reported that the story originated from an affiliate partner in New York.

Lawmaker Wants Probe

A top Republican in Congress wants a congressional investigation into the documents used by CBS News in a story about Bush's service in the National Guard.

But Republican Congressman Chris Cox of California says there's a "growing abundance of evidence that C-B-S News has aided and abetted fraud."

He wants a House subcommittee on telecommunications to look into the network's use of the documents.

CBS hasn't commented on the request.
