UPDATED: 11:24 am EDT September 17, 2004

A reporter in Wichita, Kan., was reporting on a dangerous intersection when two vehicles collided behind him on live television, according to Local 6 News.

Reporter Matt Mauro was standing at the intersection of 119th West and 53rd North in Sedgwick County when a car collided with a truck.

The impact pushed the car by Mauro and into a ditch. The truck stopped in the ditch on the other side of 53rd Street.

The man in the car was critically injured.

The preliminary cause of the accident is that the driver of the car failed to yield, according to the report.
