4 women arrested in connection to over $3,000 J.C. Penney heist

Incident reported at Clermont J.C. Penney store

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Four women have been arrested in connection to the theft of $3,388.70 worth of merchandise from a J.C. Penney’s store in Clermont.

Lake County deputies responded to the J.C. Penney’s store on Tuesday after a loss prevention specialist reported having observed four women selecting high-priced items and placing them into a mesh bag.

The four women: She’maliz May, Alexandria Figgins, Ceyanna Fox and Quanisha Bryant were accused of stealing items throughout the store.

According to the arrest report, the store employee did not notice May taking anything, but rather said that she was a lookout for the group. The employee observed May leaving the store, but quickly returning. The rest of the group of passed all points of sale, and May told the group that deputies were outside the store.
May was arrested outside the store, but the others reentered the store in an attempt to leave items behind, deputies said.

Officers said they observed Figgins, Fox and Bryant run toward the exit, and ordered them to stop running.
Fox and Figgins were arrested in the parking lot, and Bryant was found in a nearby parking lot, police said.
Figgins and Bryant were arrested on retail theft over $3,000 and resisting without violence charges.
May was arrested on retail theft over $3,000.

Deputies said that Fox had a warrant out for her arrest in Orange County for burglary of a dwelling, grand theft of a firearm, grand theft and criminal mischief. She was charged with retail theft over $3,000 and resisting obstruction by disguise.
