McGrady Faces Suit Over Alleged Dog Attack

Chamberlain Seeking Unspecified Damages

Former Orlando Magic basketball player Tracy McGrady faces a lawsuit after his rottweiler allegedly attacked a man, according to a Local 6 News report.

Local 6 News featured photos of Fred Chamberlin battered and bruised and missing the tip of his nose after the alleged dog attack in August.

Chamberlain's attorney, Eric Faddis, said his client was bitten on Aug. 24 while at McGrady's Orange County home.

"The dog was at the second level and essentially -- without being provoked -- attacked him," Faddis said. "(It) bit him in the nose, bit him in the face and caused him to tumble down the stairs."

Chamberlain worked for McGrady for three years doing odd jobs -- even after the attack -- until this week when the paychecks reportedly stopped, Local 6 News reported.

Faddis said talks to recoup medical expenses from McGrady broke down.

"I'm not certain what he knows but I would presume that he knows what his managers are telling him," Faddis said.

The lawsuit Faddis filed in Orange County Circuit Court under Florida's vicious animal law.

"He felt some loyalty to Tracy to try to take care of him," Faddis said. "And if he doesn't care about Fred -- this is the only way that we can get his attention is to file a lawsuit and let a jury decide what is fair."

Chamberlain is seeking unspecified damages from his former employer.
