ORLANDO, Fla. -- An episode of NBC's show "Fear Factor" in which couples stand next to an electric substation and allow themselves to be shocked has prompted a warning from the Kissimmee Utility Authority and other utilities in the United States, according to Local 6 News.
In the episode, scheduled to air on Monday, couples are required to receive minor, 'nuisance' shocks, according to the warning.
The Kissimmee Utility Authority warned Monday that substations are dangerous and people should never climb a fence or wall to get close to a substation.
"The reality of what would happen to anyone in this circumstance is far more tragic than portrayed in this show," says Chris Gent, KUA's manager of corporate communications.
Similar warnings were issued by other U.S. electric utilities concerning the gross-out stunt show, according to the warning.
Details on Monday night's show were not available.
Contestants have eaten spiders, rats and live worms in previous episodes.
KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
