A fast-moving fire ripped through the Patrick Air Force Base Officer's Club in Brevard County, Fla., Monday night.

No one was injured in the Monday night fire that drew dozens of firefighters and trucks from NASA, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Satellite Beach, Brevard County Fire-Rescue, Cocoa and Patrick.

The fire was first reported 7:45 p.m., Local 6 News reported.

"As you can tell, the fire is very, very extensive, it's a huge blaze," PAFB spokesperson Ken Warren said. "It's a catastrophe."

Local 6 News reported that there were about 22 people inside the building when the fire started. There were no injuries.

"I think it's a safe bet to assume most of the people who were there were having dinner," Warren said.

The building that caught fire was used mainly for banquets and social functions, Local 6 News reported.

The highway was shut down as fire crews tried to put out the fire, which appears to have started in the roof, according to preliminary reports. Fire trucks from Cocoa Beach and Patrick responded to the scene as smoke filled the night air.

A base spokesperson said the building was completely destroyed.

There were still visible flames at the building at 11:30 p.m. Monday.

The 40,000-square-foot center served continental cuisine nightly, military personnel met there for social events, guests could enjoy a tiki bar with ocean view from the deck and live bands performed regularly on Friday and Saturday nights.

A Super Bowl event, Mardi Gras party and art auction were among the events scheduled for the coming two weeks, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
