LONGWOOD, Fla. -- A woman in Longwood is being fined $25 a day for not cleaning her home or yard, according to a Local 6 News report.
Nancy White said financial troubles she experienced while moving into her home on Palm Springs Drive in Longwood are to blame for the overflowing piles of junk inside and outside her home.
Local 6 News videotaped black tarps covering piles of items in the woman's yard and on her front porch.
"My whole life is here, my pictures, my clothing," White said.
Several neighbors have complained about the mess in the woman's yard, according to the report.
"During the last eight or nine years, it's just like almost a garbage dump and it is ridiculous," neighbor Greg Sahr said.
The Seminole County Code Enforcement Board has been fining White $25 a day since April 2004.
"I don't think the code enforcement is fair," White said. "All I'm doing is moving my belongings from one place to another. I am begging for help but nobody can give me any help. That's just not right, I'm sorry. I don't agree with this. And I don't think it's right if they try to fine us."
Seminole County code enforcement is now requiring White to go before the code board on Thursday and explain why her property is in such poor condition.
At Thursday's hearing, the board could increase the $25 a day fine and push back her cleanup deadline. The board also could waive the fine, Local 6 News reported.
