Online visits to Florida's sex offender registry have quadrupled after several recent attacks and killings of young girls, according to Local 6 News.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Web site has handled more than 2 million searches in April from people checking to see if sex offenders are living near them.

Police departments and nonprofit organizations looking for missing and exploited children in Florida have also been taking more calls since the attacks, according to the report.
But it is the Internet that is empowering parents worried about sexual predators, Local 6 News reported.
Local 6 News featured Central Florida resident Tallie Halliday, who is taking in active role in searching for nearby sex offenders and letting neighbors know about them.
"I'm the welcoming committee," Halliday said. "I'm here to tell you that you live next to a sexual offender. We want to stop the Lundes. We want to stop the little girls being abducted."
Sarah Lunde, 13, was allegedly choked to death by a registered sex offender in her home earlier this month.
Also, 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford was allegedly kidnapped by a registered sex offender from her home in February and found dead March 19.
