Firefighters in Orange County, Fla., drilled into the walls and pipes of a home for eight hours searching for a screaming cat, but instead found a tiny Cuban tree frog making a similar sound, according to a Local 6 News report.
Fire and Rescue crews drilled into the home of Emily Koy Friday after she heard the screams of a cat in her home. Koy and firefighters on the scene were convinced there was a cat inside the structure, according to the report.
"It sounded like there was a cat in distress and the homeowner heard it and about seven firefighters all thought there was a cat in the pipe," Orange County Fire and Rescue Marianne Nukles said.
The firefighters did not find a cat, only a Cuban tree frog that can sound like a cat when threatened.
"If they feel threatened they'll make a sound that simulates a cat meowing," an official said.
Koy will begin to repair the damage to her home.
Cuban tree frogs are common in Central Florida and secret venom that can irritate a human's skin.
