A controversial marijuana-flavored candy carrying the slogan "every lick is like taking a hit" can be purchased by children in Central Florida and on the Web, according to a Local 6 News report.

  • Pot-flavored candy promises "every lick is like taking a hit."

The lollipops, which are made of hemp and sugar, are legal, but are marketed toward adults, Local 6 News reported.

"I think it's a great product for bringing back memories," a customer said. "You're not going to get a buzz, you are not going to get the munchies and you won't get stoned."

The company says Chronic Candy lollipops are not for children, but Local 6 News did not find a warning that the product is for buyers over 18 years old.

Local 6 News also reported that anyone could buy the product online.

"With endorsements from rappers Nelly and Snoop Dogg, you can't help but wonder if the candy will land in the wrong hands," Local 6 News reporter Samantha Knapp said.

"This is just a gimmick for a 12-year-old wanna-be pothead to kind of get into," counselor Lui Delgado said.

Delgado said parents need to speak up if they find their child with one of the candies.

"If you find this with a young person, you got to sit and talk with them," Delagado said. "If you were not interested in pot, would you buy this in the first place? Would you spend $2 on a lollipop?"

The company said there are not active ingredients found in marijuana used to create the lollipops and they will not give anyone a buzz, Local 6 News reported.

Chronic Candy's owner was not available for comment.
