Police Examining Video At Park

POSTED: Thursday, July 21, 2005
UPDATED: 10:05 pm EDT July 21, 2005

Investigators in Orlando are examining security camera footage from the Wet 'n Wild theme park after a 15-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in a bathroom.

  • "The man approached him in the shower stall area and forced him to do sex acts," Mina said. "It was not known if the teen and the man were alone in the bathroom."

The teen was showering at about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday in a bathroom at the Wet 'n Wild water park when a man in his 50s approached him, Lt. John Mina said.

"The man approached him in the shower stall area and forced him to do sex acts," Mina said. "It was not known if the teen and the man were alone in the bathroom."

The boy reported the incident to his mother, who alerted park security.

Police Sgt. Barbara Jones said the video may not be good enough to produce a photo of the suspect.

Detectives released a composite photo Thursday of a man wanted in connection with the incident.

Wet 'N Wild officials said there was an attendant stationed outside the facility.

They released a statement Thursday: "The safety of our guests is our top priority and we are working with the Orlando police department to piece all the facts together and understand exactly what happened and why. Because safety is our most important concern, we will cooperate fully with any review of the incident and will take our lead form the Orlando police department."

It's the second sexual assault involving a child reported at an Orlando resort this week.

Earlier this week, a former middle school teacher allegedly followed a 12-year-old British girl into an Orlando hotel elevator and sexually assaulted her. Carl Moore, 36, of Kissimmee, was charged with attempted sexual battery, false imprisonment and lewd molestation.
