F-16s Escort Plane After Shuttle Launch Security Breach

Several F-16 fighter jets patrolling the skies above the Kennedy Space Center were scrambled when a small plane violated restricted air space near the shuttle launch pad.
The fighter jets escorted the Cessna plane to Lake County, Fla., where it landed without further incident, according to reports.
The F-16 fighter jets patrolling the shuttle were from Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.
It is not known if the pilot will face charges in connection with the incident.
