ORLANDO, Fla. -- Several Good Samaritans are being credited with capturing a man who allegedly punched a woman in the face during a sexual assault outside an Orlando nightclub, according to Local 6 News.

Detectives said a woman left the Dragon Room nightclub in Orlando and was talking on her cell phone as she entered a dark alley at about 4 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said Ronnie Green, 20, took advantage of a dark alley and approached her from behind, according to the report.

"During the struggle, he sexually battered her and he also threatened to kill her," Orlando police Sgt. Barbara Jones said.

The woman was able to escape and ran to Church Street.

"I saw the female drop to the ground and start screaming," guard Allen Wright said. "She got back up and I saw a large male, clench his fist and punch the female twice in the face."

Wright and several others rushed to help but Green escaped. The Good Samaritans eventually located Green and held him until police arrived.

"If it was not for them and my self working as a team, I'm pretty sure that guy would never have been caught," Wright said.

Police warned of using the popular shortcut alley to go between bars in downtown Orlando.

"It is the easiest and what I would consider the safest way to the bars considering you have Pine Street there and you are walking past dirty dumpsters that stink," resident Krystal McGwire said.

"A bunch of people are coming through the alley, going to their cars," Orlando resident Jason Whight said.

Green remains in the Orange County Jail and faces several charges, including sexual assault.
