Deputies Find Body In Shed; Parents Missing

POSTED: Wednesday, October 26, 2005
UPDATED: 7:38 am EDT October 27, 2005

Volusia County sheriff's deputies checking on the well-being of a man's parents discovered a woman's body in a shed near the couple's home, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office was first called out to the home at 1210 Cypress Ave. shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday night by a concerned family member who said he had been unable to contact his parents for several days.

The son became so concerned that he drove from Georgia to check the residence and called the sheriff’s office Tuesday. There was no sign of the man's parents inside the home Tuesday night.

Sheriff's deputies who returned to the residence Wednesday morning to continue the investigation found a body inside the shed.

After an investigation, police said they are looking for 47-year-old Larry Roberson, who may be driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado.

A spokesman for the sheriff's department said Roberson's wife, Debra, hasn't been accounted for, and it was not determined if the body found is hers.

Court records show Larry Roberson was arrested on charges of aggravated battery in 2002 after he tried to smother his wife with a bath towel soaked in bleach. The spokesman says deputies have been called to the home five times since October 2003, but he didn't say why citing the ongoing investigation.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 736-5999.
