A popular teeth-whitening product designed to create a sparkling smile was tested by Problem Sovler Mark Schumacher.
The Ionic White system promises a brighter smile in 21 minutes. The $40 product claims it will deliver with its light-activated tooth whitening system.
Schumacher took the product to dentist Dr. Peter Krimsky.
Krimsky and his assistant first determined the exact color of Schumacher's teeth.
Krimsky then followed the Ionic White system's instructions and filled a tray with the product's whitening gel.
"Then we turn on the blue light and wait till it goes off two minutes later," Schumacher said.
Krimsky took the tray out of Schumacher's mouth.
Schumacher then swished for five to seven minutes.
"The process has to be repeated twice for a total of three, gel, light, and swish routines," Schumacher said. "While it only calls for putting the whitening gel in the top of the mouthpiece, we found that little gel made it to the bottom teeth."
Schumacher then asked Krimsky and his assistant if the product worked.
"Did either of you notice any difference with this treatment?," Schumacher asked.
"None, not at all," Krimsky said.
"So do i recommend this?" Schumacher asked. "I don't think so."
