A 3-year-old Oklahoma boy who was one of an estimated seven people in the nation with a rare aging disease died this week.
Zachary Moore died Monday night at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa of respiratory complications.
Zachary was diagnosed with progeria, which accelerates the aging process to about seven times the normal rate. The disease affects only one in about 4 million to 8 million babies.
Children with progeria usually die from cardiovascular disease at an average age of 13.
"He seemed to have done a lot in his three years," Richard Poe, minister of the Stillwater Church of Christ said in an Associated Press report.
Funeral services were pending.
