'Person Of Interest' Sought In Missing Woman Case
Two photos released Saturday show a man walking near a fence around noon last Tuesday after 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse mysteriously vanished.Police would not say exactly where the photos were taken but said they were pulled from video shot in the area of Texas Avenue and Americana Boulevard. Kesse's 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was found abandoned in the same area at the Huntington on the Green apartment complex on Jan. 26.Investigators said the person in the photo is not a suspect but a "person of interest." They would not say exactly why the man stood out from other pedestrians videotaped in the area. The person in the photo is difficult to see but police think someone may recognize him."We are hoping there will be somebody out there that maybe will recognize the clothing or something about it or just the time frame when we believed the picture was captured," Orlando police Sgt. Barbara Jones said. "We want the person to call us. We just want to know some information from this person."Detectives are looking at surveillance video from other locations as well, Local 6 News has learned.
Weekend Search
Meanwhile, more than 1,000 people volunteered in Saturday's search for Kesse, Local 6 News reported.Members of Child Watch of North America organized the weekend search of several areas in Orlando."They are trying to hit a 5- to 7-mile perimeter first and then we expand it out," Child Watch spokesman Don Woods said.Local 6 News showed video of volunteers canvassing canals and wooded areas near where the woman's vehicle was found last week."This (search) has hope," Wood said. "Because it could be the fact that somebody has taken her and is holding her."Web Site Launched
Friday, the family launched a Web site to keep Kesse's name and story circulating. The Web site contains photos, notes from the family and a guest book where visitors can leave messages.Local 6 News reported that one of the Web site posts was from a concerned citizen in Anchorage, Alaska.A $115,000 reward is being offered for information about Kesse's whereabouts. If you have any information, you are urged to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.- February 4, 2006: Massive Weekend Search Planned For Missing Woman
