6-year-old boy trying to save NASA from budget cuts
Family starts petition because of boy's love of space
A 6-year-old boy is doing what he can to try and save NASA's budget from being cut.
Connor Johnson dreams of becoming an astronaut one day. But the Denver boy got upset when he learned Congress is cutting some of the funding for the space program.
Connor initially told his family he wanted to donate his entire piggy bank, all $10.41, to NASA. His family instead helped him start a petition on the White House website.
After telling his story to a Denver television station, the petition quickly got over 6,600 signatures, but Connor will need 100,000 for an official response from the White House.
"NASA is mostly the only space station, like space company I've known for a very long time," Connor told a reporter.
All the signatures have to be collected by December 29th.
