Michael Grozdanovich said he heard screams coming from his mother and investigated.

He said he found her completely engulfed in flames.

"When I looked out my window, I heard a holler, 'Help, help,' and it was her son," neighbor Rita Beckinger said. "All I saw was a big ball of fire and I knew it was on the side of her porch."

Grozdanovich and a neighbor tried to put out the flames, but they were too late. The woman died at the scene.

The coroner's office is investigating the incident but said a cigarette butt was found among ashes at the house.
