Woman arrested in Palm Bay for shaking gun in the face of her husband, who she has been married to for 54 years.

PALM BAY, Fla. – A 76-year-old woman was taken into custody under the "Baker Act" after she told police she wanted to kill her husband of 54 years because he was "too controlling."

Patricia Gay was arrested by Palm Bay Police on Friday after putting a gun in her husband's face and threatening to pull the trigger. He had just returned home after being away for several months of medical treatment, according to the report.

Gay told officials she did not want to care for him and that she wanted to kill him. She also told police that he had been too controlling for the past 54 years and that she should have pulled the trigger like she did years ago when she shot her husband in the foot, according to the police.

Two guns were collected from the home and both were loaded, police said.

Gay then told police "Yup, that's the gun I put in his face, that old (expletive)."

Gay also told officials that if they did not take her into custody, she would kill him later and that she wanted the state to feed her and give her a place to sleep.

Gay's husband suffers from dementia, so he could not complete a sworn statement, but he advised police that he did not want his wife to go to jail.

Because of the Gay's mental state, she was taken into custody under the Baker Act She has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
