Gator Attacks Horse, Drags Animal Into Pond
Horse Suffers Bites To Face, Legs
A full-grown horse was attacked Monday morning by an alligator and dragged into a pond in Titusville, according to the animal's owner.
Gator Attacks Horse
Connie Kirk, the owner of the 4-year-old Arabian horse, watched in shock as the alligator bit the horse on the face, chest and front and hind legs and dragged the animal into the water. The alligator eventually let the horse go, and the horse was not seriously injured.
"It just amazed me. What if it was one of our kids? There's a lot of children that come out here and fish in the pond. This gator is just not afraid of anything," Kirk said.
Even the most seasoned gator trappers were baffled by the story.
"It's just unbelievable that he would even try that," trapper Bill Robb said. "For the sake of their dogs and their children that come over here every afternoon to fish ... he's got to go."
Robb, who's been trapping gators for more than 10 years, estimates that the gator is about 9 feet long. He thinks the gator is hiding, but will reappear near dusk when it gets hungry.
