Strip Club May Be Condos After Patron Photos Posted
For the last three months, groups of residents from a nearby retirement community and surrounding neighborhoods have protested outside of the Liquid adult dance club located off Highway A1A -- rain or shine. In an earlier report, club owners said they were being harassed and had no intention of relocating. However, club owners said recent revenues have been down because of the daily protests and they would now like to compromise and build a three-story condo complex where the strip club now stands. "Persistence wears out resistance, or at least that's what protesters say," Local 6 News reporter Tarik Minor said."What they guys have is a bargaining tool in his opinion," Flagler Beach Mayor Ed Kuhnlein said. "I have never been opposed to bargaining. I have never been opposed to sitting down and talking about the situation because talking becomes a reality."However, to construct the condo, commissioners would have to rezone and change the beachside side area from tourist-commercial to multi-dwelling residential."They know what they are doing," resident Lynn Tyler said. "They are very smart people. I'm not on their side, believe me, I don't want them in my neighborhood but I really think they knew what they were doing."A public hearing is scheduled for April 10.Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
