Investigators said John Rose, 34, was arrested after an altercation with a woman he did not know at Williamson Boulevard and Strickland Range Road -- in the same area where one of the victims was found.

The woman fled from the man's car and flagged down a passing sheriff's deputy, police said.

When officers investigated, the found a glass tube smoking device in Rose's car that tested positive for crack cocaine, a police report said.

Both Rose and the woman, Liba Sara Wolf, 27, were then interviewed by investigators to determine if one or both could be involved or had knowledge of the serial homicide cases police are currently investigating, according to the report.

It was determined that Rose and Wolf had no knowledge of the homicides.

Rose remains in the Volusia County Jail facing possible drug charges and Wolf was released without charges.

In recent weeks, investigators have questioned several people concerning the deaths of Iwana Patton, Laquetta Gunther and Julie Green. The three women are believed to have entered the killer's vehicle before they were found shot to death.
