PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- A 54-year-old woman in Port Orange charged with shooting and killing her elderly neighbors told officers that the couple had been torturing her and made her "green mothball cookies" that made her sick, according to a Local 6 News report.
Robert Goerlich, 70, and his wife, Shirley, 68, were found by a neighbor shot to death in their home located at 110 Gregory Circle, police said.
Neighbor Paul Seymour said he went outside after hearing what sounded like gunshots about 7:30 p.m. He said he saw Linda Sue Anderson leaving the Goerlich's home.
Anderson was taken into custody a short time later and charged with first-degree murder.
It appeared that the shooting had something to do with a relationship between neighbors, police Cmdr. Tim Girard said.
During questioning, Anderson told police, "I didn't see any blood or bullet holes in their clothing." "…They are over there watching TV aren't they? I was shooting blanks."
Anderson also said, "They make me cookies with green mothballs in them and I get sick."
