A group of homeowners are concerned after a black bear was spotted roaming their neighborhood destroying garbage cans, knocking down bird feeders and even damaging a car, according to Local 6 News.

Neighbors living in a community near Longwood, Fla., called police over the weekend after the bear was spotted in several yards.

Vicki Smith, who owns a home in the area, said she came face-to-face with it in her garage, the report said.

"The bear was actually walking down the street, came through my neighbor's yard, across the front, tried to get in their back yard, then he came right across the front of my yard, down the sidewalk and around the corner," Smith said.

Another neighbor, Charles Marino, said his daughter's car was scratched by the bear.

"I'm afraid with all the newborns on Island Drive that somebody is going to eventually get hurt," homeowner Kelly Levinson said.

Officials said a black bear has never attacked a human in Florida but neighbors are still concerned.

"They said that black bears are not aggressive so that was good news but still, seeing one in your back yard, no more than five feet away from you, it doesn't make you feel comfortable," Smith said.

Fish and Wildlife officers are expected to be in the area Monday.
