OVIEDO, Fla. – An 89-year-old riding a tricycle was struck by a truck and killed Monday in Oviedo.
Oscar Gerken died at Orlando Regional Medical Center after being hit around 9:30 a.m. near State Road 426 and Slavia Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Cecelia Lukas, of Oviedo, was headed eastbound on Slavia Road and attempted to make a left turn onto State Road 426.
Troopers said Lukas told them that she didn't see the tricycle in the crosswalk and struck and ran over Gerken, who was taken to the hospital and later died.
The crash remains under investigation.
