9-year-old girl dies in New Smyrna Beach shed fire

Boy, 8, in serious condition at Halifax Medical Center

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – One child has died on Monday after a shed caught fire in New Smyrna Beach Friday, the fire department said.

Firefighters arrived at 304 Conrad Dr. at around 6:15 p.m. and found smoke, but no flames, coming from a wood frame shed.

Two children were found with burn injuries. One was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center and the other was taken by ambulance to Halifax Medical Center.

The 9-year-old girl was pronounced dead on Monday, according to New Smyrna Beach Fire Department. The boy, 8, is in serious condition at Halifax Medical Center.

The cause of the fire was not released. Fire officials are investigating.
