9-year-old girl struck by car in Orlando fights for her life

Angel Lo struck by car near Baldwin Park last week

ORLANDO, Fla. – She cannot speak, open her eyes or squeeze her mother's hand, but friends of 9-year-old Angel Lo are not giving up hope.

"She's not scared of anything, she's like fearless -- and she's courageous, and I think she has such a caring heart," said Evangelina Wong.

Lo, a fourth-grader at Audubon Park Elementary School, was hit by a car as she was crossing FL-436 near Century 21 Boulevard with a family friend last week.

She is in critical condition with a severe brain injury at Arnold Palmer Hospital.

Some feel more needs to be done to light up the busy area.

"There's a major gas station, the WaWa is right there, when you have a major facility like that, I mean, children and adults are going to be attracted to it, so anything we can do to improve safety there would be great," said Craig Daughtery, Lo's pastor.

On Friday, while Lo's parents stayed by her side at the hospital, her friends and brother lit candles, sang songs and prayed for the little girl with a big heart.

"We came to pray for her healing, but ultimately for what God wants to do," said Wong.
