Miami's Ocean Drive closed due to threats of possible explosive

Miami Beach police investigate threats

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach police closed off the 900 block of Ocean Drive on Wednesday night due to threats of a possible explosive in the area, police said. 

Officer Ernesto Rodriguez said the department received several calls from the same person on their non-emergency line, reporting possible explosives on Ocean Drive between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

The manager of the Breakwater Hotel told WPLG-TV he was waiting to get more information from police, but said his hotel is fully operating.

The manager of neighboring Ocean's Ten said he was unaware of any threat.

Police dogs are searching the area in an abundance of caution.
