Deputy charged with murder in road rage shooting

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities released the 911 calls on Wednesday from a road-rage shooting involving an off-duty Brevard County deputy.

Yousef Hafza, who was off duty at the time of the shooting, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in the June 19 shooting of Clarence Howard, 25, in Palm Bay, the FDLE said.

Hafza did not identify himself as a law enforcement officer and was not acting in the capacity of a law enforcement officer at the time of the shooting, the FDLE said.

"Hey listen, there are two guys chasing me in a car. They jumped out and they came out me. I just shot one of them," Hafza told dispatchers in the calls. "Two guys jumped out of the car and ran at me and I jumped out of the vehicle and I started firing shots at them."

Hafza was with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office for two years.
