MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Authorities released on Wednesday 911 calls for the Brevard County plane crash that killed two men.
The plane crashed on Paula Avenue on Merritt Island at around 8:30 p.m., killing 47-year-old John Brian Kish and 64-year-old Kenneth Allen Marks, both of Merritt Island.
"I was just walking, I'm on the next street and I saw the plane coming down and I thought 'Lord I think it's going to crash' and all of a sudden it exploded," the caller told dispatchers. "Somebody is in the plane, they're not coming out."
"I'll just remember John as how adventurous he was, and friendly and helpful," said Mike Brady, who works at the airport. "It's just a big loss."Friends say both men were at the Merritt Island airport on a daily basis flying their planes. Kish was president of the Merritt Island Flying Club.
Deputies said the plane took off from Merritt Island Airport and crashed about 3 miles away. The two were on a test flight as Marks was interested in purchasing the plane from Kish. Witnesses said the plane was 200-400 feet above the ground before it crashed.
"It's raining right now, that's the reason," Brady said. "Everybody is really sad about this."
The National Transportation Safety Board will continue to investigate the crash, but it could take month.
