Police in Deerfield Beach, Fla., are searching for a group of teens who beat some small ducklings to death during an apparent game to kill the animals, according to a report.

Witness Cerena Defalco said she was shocked to see a young man take stick and beat the ducklings to death at a pond.

Defalco said the teens chased the ducks around the pond and treated the beatings as some type of game, the report said.

"He just took that stick and pursued those ducklings, beat them like you would not believe," Defalco said. "He had no mercy, he was laughing, smiling and non-remorseful."

Police are looking into a number of leads, including area surveillance tape.

"These teenagers, if they think they can get away with killing animals, they go on to bigger things and become a threat to our society," Defalco said.

The culprits face possible animal cruelty charges if captured.
