Coral Gables Police Dog Runs Away From Home
POSTED: Sunday, May 28, 2006
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- A Coral Gables police officer has lost his partner.
Officer Gordon Dickinson woke up Sunday morning, but when he looked in his backyard, the 4-year-old, 80-pound Belgium Malinois Dickinson works with was gone.
Police continue to search for Anatool, who has been with the department for about 18 months.
Police believe the dog left the yard willingly. A spokesman for the Coral Gables Police said nobody is going to enter a backyard with a police dog and come out alive.
An all-out dog hunt over the weekend for the dog was called off, but a countywide be-on-the lookout is still in effect for the dog.
Police said the dog has a good disposition toward people but not other dogs. Police are concerned that the dog could attack if it feels threatened.
