Banks Ask Customers To Take Off Hats, Sunglasses

Banks Want Better Look At Would-Be Robbers

Remove the hats and glasses. That's the demand of some banks in South Florida worried about robberies.

The banks want surveillance cameras to get a better look at patrons and any would-be robbers.

According to The Miami Herald, some banks in Davie, Pembroke Pines and Sunny Isles have posted signs asking patrons to remove hats and sunglasses before doing any banking.

The new dress code has the approval of law enforcement officials.

"It certainly helps when we can see the people who are robbing these places. Hopefully, more banks will start doing it," Sgt. John Jacob, a spokesman for the Pembroke Pines Police Department told The Miami Herald.

In May, a robber wearing a bandana and sunglasses to hide his face robbed a Wachovia Bank branch in Fort Lauderdale.

Detectives are still trying to identify the robber.
