A 400-pound black bear on the campus of a Central Florida daycare forced officials to put the facility in lockdown Tuesday, according to Local 6 News.
The bear was spotted at a dumpster near Longwood's StarChild Academy Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff's deputies monitored the bear the entire time it was on the campus and at some moments clapped their hands in attempts to scare the bear away.
"The bear seemed to show no fear of humans whatsoever," Local 6 reporter Chris Trenkmann said.
The animal eventually climbed a fence and left the area. It was last seen in some nearby bushes.
Deputies said they planned to call out a wildlife officer with a tranquilizer gun and remove it from the area.
"They said because the bear came on to an area where children are located and showed no fear of humans, it is necessary that they forcibly remove the bear from the area," Trenkmann said.
No children were in danger.
