A woman in Lake County, Fla., was arrested when a juvenile disturbance report led to the discovery that two children, ages 10 and 12, apparently smoked regularly inside their filthy home, according to Local 6 News.
Officers with the Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to the Clermont Inn on U.S. Highway 27 and met with Sara Kepler over the weekend.
Kepler said her 6-year-old child was accidentally burned by a cigarette. The 10-year-old said that the burn was accidental and happened when he reached over to put the cigarette out.
Deputies then questioned the 6-year-old child who said her 12-year-old sister and 10-year-old brother smoke all of the time, the report said.
Kepler told deputies that she had tried to get her 10 and 12 year old children to stop smoking but was unsuccessful.
Officers said they found dirty clothes and dishes in the room. The home was also in disarray, the report said.
Kepler faces a child neglect charge in connection with the incident.
