A 17-year-old was injured when lightning traveled through his computer and shot out of a mouse that he had grabbed while surfing an online poker Web site, according to a Local 6 News report.

Eddie Wilkerson was shocked Wednesday at his home in Cantonment, Fla. during a storm in the area.

"I heard the lightning and I saw a flash. I felt a jolt go up my right arm and through my whole body," he said. "I couldn't move. My whole body was weak."

A few minutes later, he phoned his mother for help. She called paramedics and drove across town to reach her son.

"I was scared and I didn't know what was going to happen," Wilkerson said. "A lot of things were going through my mind. Was I going to die?"

The family said the teen will need physical therapy to recover full use of his arm.

Eddie Wilkerson said he had been warned about using the computer in storms, but didn't take the warnings seriously.

"Where there is thunder, there is lightning. If you hear it, don't get on your computer," he said.

Wilkerson said he was registering for an online poker tournament at the time he was struck by lightning.
