A man who police said was Orlando's record-tying 36th homicide victim of the year woke his wife early Monday and told her that someone had killed him before dying, according to a Local 6 News report.
Investigators said a neighbor heard screaming from a home located at 3728 Kitty Hawk Ave. in Pine Hills early Monday.
When officers arrived, they found the man fatally injured.
A translator told police that the man knew he had been fatally injured, according to neighbor Mary Thompson.
"She said her husband shook her, and this is coming from the translator and not me, and her husband shook her and said, 'Somebody has killed me,'" Thompson said.
Crime scene investigators are trying to determine a motive Monday and if someone broke into the home.
"Right now, there is very little information coming from the Orlando Police Department," Knapp said.
The man's death ties an Orlando record of 36 homicides set in 1982.
"This would mark the 36th death at the hands of somebody else," Orlando police spokeswoman Barbara Jones said. "And, certainly that is not something that we want. It is not the way we want to live in our society, especially in our city."
"This area is getting more crime ridden," Thompson said.
