TALLAHASSEE -- The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida wants some answers from Florida A&M President James Ammons.

On Tuesday, Ammons cancelled summer band camp and temporarily blocked students from joining groups and organizations on campus.

ACLU executive director Howard Simon made a public records request to Ammons on Friday for an explanation on the bans and statements by university officials regarding that decision.

Ammon's decision to cancel band camps and block new student group member comes while an investigation continues into the hazing-related death of one of the university's drum majors in November.
Simon says the right for students to gather and discuss various issues must be protected and especially on university campuses.
